Two Truths in One Heart; Two Peoples in One Land

Two Truths in One Heart; Two Peoples in One Land

November 23, 2025, 7pm-9pm

We want to extend a heartfelt invitation to a public event with two of the founders of ROOTS
(friendsofroots.net)Khaled Abu Awad and Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger have been working together for over 10 years, bringing Palestinians and Israelis from the West Bank together in profoundly deep healing conversations and joint programs and activism to build a new future.

ROOTS is an Israeli-Palestinian grassroots initiative for understanding, nonviolence and transformation based in the West Bank – is a unique network of local Palestinians and Israelis who have come to see each other as the partners we both need to make changes to end our conflict. Based on mutual recognition of each People’s national identity and connection to the Land, we are challenging the assumptions our communities hold about each other, building trust and creating a new discourse around the conflict in our respective societies.

ROOTS envisions a new social and political reality that honors the belonging of both Palestinians and Israeli Jews to the land, and grants dignity, freedom, equality, and security to both sides. They are painfully aware that the present political constellation does not provide these rights to the people who deserve them.

ROOTS works every day to bring rays of light into the dark and painful Palestinian-Israel reality. Month after month, Palestinians and Israelis are still choosing to meet, to listen, and to resist despair, and they have exponentially expanded their anti-violence initiatives on the ground.
Please share and invite your colleagues, friends, and constituencies who are open to hearing the bridge-building and healing work in this region at a time that is most needed.
